I used to be in regional honor choirs when I was in high school, and there was this one hilarious "help tape" that was sent to us in preparation for our first rehearsal. I don't know who, and I don't know where, but some person plunked incessantly on this out-of-tune piano in order to outline the simple melody that we were meant to learn. I found the tape several years later, warbled and weird, and found myself making a song over the piano tape plunk, cutting up and rearranging the first few measures into something different than before.
lyrics
A memory, something undone
A history where we come from
So far away, a faded dream
When we awake, what will it mean?
And I want to go where the stars shine only for themselves
And I want to go where the moon glows for nobody else
And I want to go where the lights turn on and off alone
And I want to go where we're free to truly be our own
Truly be our own
And I want to go where the stars shine only for themselves
And I want to go where the moon glows for nobody else
And I want to go where inside each eye's a little light
And I want to go where together we can light the night
We can light the night
